We started with an awkward little room that didn’t have a purpose, but DID have this original wood burning fireplace. We moved the doorway to the other end of the wall and made it into a bookcase door, and oriented the seating area to face the fire and gather around it. We stripped the paint off the hearth to discover the original Tyndall stone and cut off some strange stone shelves to update the look. Layers of contrasting textures create a space that we designated as the after-dinner grown-up space (with a sliding patio door to the hot tub and a midcentury antique whiskey bar— both just outside the frame of this image) ….All while the little kids play in the other living room— the one with no open fire and fewer breakables. 😊 We absolutely love taking those often-underused living rooms and making them part of daily life. Check out our website for more pics of this Tuxedo 60’s home (and a dramatic before shot) of this cozy space. . . . #interiors #designbuild #fireplacegoals #renovation #winnipegrenovation #winnipegrealtor #wpgeats #interiordesign #onlyinthepeg #velvet ##exploremb #winnipeg #tuxedowinnipeg #mywinnipeg #finditdowntown #beerstagram #ywg #brewery #taproom #taproombar #tourismwinnipeg #decorgoals #lonnyliving #remodelista #archdigest #elledecor #sodomino
