CUSTOM-DESIGNED MILLWORK

To achieve the layered “modern craftsman” look for the cabinetry, we mixed three different types of cabinets: standard boxes, semi-custom boxes, and custom-made components in two stain finishes. Oak was the obvious choice, both in black and in a chestnut stain matched to the existing trim found throughout the condo.
The use of mirrors and reflective finishes bounce light around and add glamour to contrast some of the more rustic material choices.

It’s never ideal to have to stare at a wall when standing at the sink, (it was cost-prohibitive to move the plumbing into the island), so we strategially placed a mirror-backed open shelf cabinet to offer views to the rest of the space.
