When designing this kitchen, it was extremely important to get the lighting design right. The room was very long and dim with only one source of natural sunlight coming in through the sliding doors, so brightening everything up was essential for our clients. We created ambient lighting by cladding the ceiling in silver leaf and adding a tray to reflect a uniform glow throughout the kitchen. The can flush mounts above the new island brought in additional task lighting for the workspaces.

Finally, we added accent lighting around the toe kick of the monolithic island and within the shelving around the fireplace to highlight our clients’ art, and to transform the island into a sculptural piece of art itself.
