In our research for @juneberry we learned a lot- first that a juneberry is more locally known as a saskatoon. (Probably because they are nowhere near ripe in June ‘round here) and that we have so many different indigenous berries and some crazy looking edible mushrooms on which we based our colour and material palette. . Different berries in various degrees of ripeness inspired our custom metal mobiles “kinetic sculptures” that are constantly and gently in motion. Huge hit with babies. Hand-woven booths in hemp (another local product) were heroically made by the cafe owners and friends, …..cause sometimes we design things that none of our tradespeople will touch. ☺️ Local dream-team @synonymartconsultation commissioned talented home-grown artists @hannaclare (shown) @mariaeppart to create special pieces for the cafe. . Even the muddy clay soil along our rivers makes an appearance, inspiring our softly rounded half-height divider walls. Check our Juneberry highlight reel to see pics of those and how they divided the small space into cozy seating zones…. Cause we’ve all had the annoying experience of being seated at a tiny cafe table that feels like it’s in a busy aisle. No bad seats allowed! . . . #savembrestaurants #gowpg #mywinnipeg #wpgeats #ywg #exploremanitoba #tourismwinnipeg #winnipegartist #designbuild #canada #cafelife #explorecanada #beerstagram #cocktailbar #brunchtime #restaurantdesign #hemp #onlyinthepeg #pegcity #pegcitygrub
