We are very excited to see this sunlight-filled new house come to life. Check out this mini tour with Natalie and Adam featuring work by some of the most talented craftspeople around.
Our design for Rosé was inspired by Winnipeg’s historic vaudeville theatre scene. Here, guests are on stage with a glowing silver leaf backdrop, red carpet, velvet drapery, and marquee lighting, paying homage to local theatre stages of the early 1900’s. Swipe for before! We wanted to make a sunny spot for morning coffee with views out to the garden, but it also had to work as the rear entrance to the deck, bbq, and garage. We relocated the door and tucked away a mud room out of sight but close at hand for coats and boots, a laundry area, and powder room. The client’s hand-made table was re-used and cut to size for the new coffee nook, the legs got a coat of glossy off-white paint. Also featuring William Morris wallpaper, linen cafe curtains, and cotton/flax blend stripe on the banquette.
Swipe for the before of the same corner! Our garden kitchen in Wolseley needed a lot of work to connect to the owner’s beautiful yard. We designed the new kitchen to enjoy the dappled morning light filtering through the tree canopy. While the windows and garden doors were challenging, it was even more involved to open a load-bearing brick wall to add a breakfast nook to the kitchen. (See our recent post for a view of that cozy nook). The brick wall was almost 18” thick and we added trim to fit with the character of this 100 year old home. We added a coffered ceiling to coordinate with the one in the dining room and balanced all these historic details with modern accents like @studiodavidpompa pendant lights and Risom chairs.
